- Biography of the artist
Andy Warhol was born on August 6, 1928 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
A recognized artist, he is one of the precursors of the Pop Art artistic movement which made him famous throughout the world, in particular his portraits of Marylin Monroe, Elizabeth Taylor etc.
He is also an actor, screenwriter and producer.
He will develop his talent during his adolescence when he is sick and forced to stay in bed for many months. Indeed for several months, he draws, listens to the radio and collects photos of movie stars.
His first exhibition took place at the Hugo Gallery in 1952.
Andy Warhol is also known for his avant-garde films and his membership in the world of Hollywood people. He made the Rolling Stones Sticky Fingers album cover and numerous portraits of stars such as Michael Jackson, Marylin Monroe, Grace Kelly and politicians such as Mao Tse-Tung.
Andy Warhol died of a heart attack in his sleep on February 22, 1987. He is recognized as one of the most famous artists of the 20th century.
